The saddest day of my life came on April 16, 2007, the day I learned that 32 people had been killed, and 17 injured, in a mass shooting at Virginia Tech. As Virginia’s governor, it was my solemn duty to comfort both the victims’ families and our grieving Commonwealth.

The perpetrator in the Virginia Tech shooting was able to buy his guns due to a background check loophole. For over 10 years, I have been fighting to close loopholes so that we can prevent more gun deaths. But I need your help, Kathryn.

Will you add your name to call on Congress to require background checks on every gun purchase?
