Subba Kolla broke a fundraising record earlier this year for a non-incumbent candidate for the House of Delegates. But his donations plummeted sharply in the two months after that, according to his finance reports.

Kolla raised $284,693 in January, February and March, topping an inflation-adjusted quarterly total of $180,889 in 2007 by Del. G. Manoli Loupassi, R-Richmond, according to the Virginia Public Access Project.

Kolla, a Republican, is challenging first-term Del. John J. Bell, D-Loudoun, in the 87th House District. The seat includes part of Prince William County and was previously held by Republican David Ramadan, who didn’t seek re-election in 2015.

In the first three months of the year, Kolla received 222 donations of more than $100 and 52 under it, totaling $284,693.01. That included a loan of $25,000 from his real estate company and $50,000 of his own money. But for context, that was a bigger haul than the now-GOP nominee for lieutenant governor, state Sen. Jill Holtzman Vogel, raised in that same three-month period.
